I choose this shoes Clarks Men’s Wallabee Shoe for my husband. We are quite pleased with this choice.
- This sole is the gum sole you are thinking of if you look at the original. MORE cushions are better and (as other reviews have said), it is solid. My husband is a big fan of Wallabees and this is the original you are thinking of.
- We have leather rubbing oil in both options and the finish is similar in both. My husband said that the suitability, ingenuity and overall quality of these shoes are superior to others.
- Sizing. My husband wears 9.5 or 10. Average width. Usually some 10 in sports shoes. Number 10 in Stinson is huge for him. 9.5 in this style fits perfectly. These shoes are roomy and will stretch a little when you wear them, so definitely buy half the size down to a minimum. It is really beautiful looking and comfortable on the feet. Even make me look a little taller.

The Wallabee is often made from suede or leather although there have been many variations on this topic using camouflage canvas, silk embroidery and so on. For example, Woolrich collaborated with them last year, which featured Woolrich plaidmaterial made of red and black signatures.
The Wallabee has become an iconic classics in Clarks Originals collection globally thanks to its moccasin structure and its structural silhouette. With simple and clean lines, this comfortable lace-up style in black suede combined with signature crepe sole which continues to stand the test of time.
First debuted in 1967, The Wallabee has more than half a century of history behind it. Originally based on a German-designed moccasin, the style initially didn’t catch up with Clarks’s native England. But it was very successful in North America and it was a runaway in Jamaica. See, “rude boys” Jamaican men who used desert boot shoes were launched in 1950, as part of their actual uniforms, and related criminal activity turned footwear. Become the target of the police. When Wallees arrived at the scene, they were immediately brought into the fold.
Whether that made their wearers any less likely to catch the eye of law enforcement agencies is debating. But thanks to the flow of Jamaican immigrants in New York in the 1980s, the shoes became a major part of the first rap scene. As a favorite character of Wu-Tang Clan, Wallabees became a hip-hop icon that like “Wallabee Kingpin” claiming to be Ghostface Killah, remains part of the genre to this day.
If provenance isn’t your thing, know this: Wallabees is not only great because they have a good story. The square toed chukkas sit in the middle area perfectly between sport shoes and more traditional office shoes. Considering the increasingly blurry boundaries between dressing up and dressing down, it’s a pretty strong place. Want to give everything a little more coherent vibe but keep it comfortable at the same time? Just tighten a pair and let the characteristic crepe sole make your feet happy all day. Need to remove form out of a suit? Wallees will do that, and they will not feel as expected as a standard move today is to throw a pair of minimal white sneakers. Basically, if you are not sure which shoes will work with a certain outfit, Wallabees will be more likely to solve your problem
CONLUTIONS
Remember when I mentioned that people has heard the gospel about desert shoes? That’s still a good thing, but it also means that quite a lot of people have a pair. Same goes for sports shoes. But Wallabees, although revered in some circles, has yet to reach saturation point in popular culture. You can walk down the street on any day and whether you see a pair or not is a bounce. If you’re a prominent person for good reasons, you’re probably seeing an opportunity here. A shoe with some real cultural fit, which is super comfortable, super flexible, and yet available everywhere? That’s what you should have in your rotation. So the only question left is: Why are you not?
